World Superpipe - Torah completes a hattrick

The Park City World Super Pipe Championships is a event that i love to be at.

Park City is 30 minutes away from my home in Salt Lake city, so i get to sleep in my own bed. What made it really special this year was that my sister, her husband and their new baby boy were in town.
Rowena's husband went with his family south for a marathon race. So i got to have rowena and Sid stay with me, and cheer me on.

The Practice days were beautiful and sunny, then the contest day was a little bad, but not bad enough not to run it.
The girls were first and the contest went supper fast. We had a 3 run final.

I ended up having a victory lap... i love it when that happens.
Kelly Clarke came in second and Soko Yamaoko in third.
I was so happy to have Rowena and Sid there. I was so happy playing with them that i actually missed the prize giving... woops!

Luckily they staged it again for me.

All in all it was a great contest, there were a lot of friends that i have not seen for such a long time at this event, so it was great to catch up and ride with them!

Nippon Open Update

The last day of the Nippon Open was today, The half pipe finals could not have fallen on a better day. It was sunny for the most part and little wind, it was our best weather day yet.

After falling both runs in the park style and just making it in to the finals in 7th place for halfpipe, i had serious thoughts that maybe this event was just going to be one of those events that you wished you never put the energy into coming to if you were going to be off the whole time, but finally the weather cleared and we were all able to give a good show.

I was very happy to come back to japan for the Nippon Open and win it for the 3rd time.

I am now leading the TTR tour and sitting in 2nd for the global open, its anyones to take though, because jenny jones, jamie anderson, Kelly clark and myself are all very close!

I will just have fun and try to ride my best and see what happens!
Straight after the awards we gathered our bags loaded them on the bus which was taking our bags to the hotel and then hoped in the car with koski from burton and headed to the train station.
Now we are sitting on the train to Tokyo to spend the night before we fly back to Salt Lake where the park city super pipe world championships are being held.

I am expecialy excited to get back because my sister Rowena is in town visiting her husbands family. Rowena and Rob just had a baby boy, back in November, and i can not wait to see them all!
Tonight we plan to go out and sing karaoke and then make it to the fish markets in the morning at 4 am, where the days catchment's come in and are sold... we will see if i can stay out that late though. I hope i have plenty of pictures to put up for you all the see the fun times!

The highlight of the trip has defiantly been the few karaoke nights we have had, i will have to show some pictures of everyone rocking out.... oh and i can't forget how the japanese pronounce some names, they seem to put and 'o' on the end over some names. They say Bright, Brighto. We all have fun calling each others names like that!

I hope you have enjoyed the few updates we have put up and i hope to get better at it.

I will next blog at the World super pipe champs, but if anything exciting happens in the mean time i will be sure to blog it!
Till next time...

Ok so my brother and i spent the day being Tourists in Tokyo, and this is a little of what we saw.

Soccer anyone????

Very famous snowboarder from japan, Mr Abominable Snow Man.

Top of the pipe with J-money

I was only meant to spend a night in tokyo, catch a train early to fukashima the next day but due heavy winds the regional
express was staying stationary. So we got the chance to cruise around tokyo for another day and night.
Tokyo was super fun, and interesting. We spent most of the day in the district of shibuya. Walking in and out stores,
taking snaps, and checking out a city japanese style. A long the way we kept bumping into other
people who are in some way apart of the snowboard scene from event organizes, to athletes, to media. Its amazing who you see
a draft in Tokyo.

We arrived at the Nippon open a day late but so did most ever body else. I have had one training day in the pipe,
it could have gone a little better. Today we were scheduled to have Slope-style practice, but due to the weather it was cancelled.
So i am Typing this blog. Gretchen Bieler, Ellery Wollingsworth, Jamie Anderson, Kelly Clarke, Jenny Jones, and host of other
internationals are here, plus japans finest, so it's set to be a fun week. So stay tuned for more news, snowboarding,
snowboarding life Japan style, and Karaoke............oh yeah!!!!
