The snow was not the greatest but the ride was worth it. The Premier for 'That's it, That's All' was in Wanaka NZ when I was there. That movie is amazing! The combination of the mouth dropping landscapes and incredible ridding, inspired me just to go and have some fun riding, so that's what I did in NZ, just had fun riding with my friends! The next day we ventured up to Mt. Hood and tested the boards out and tried to teach Dani how to snowboard. Click on the related link & enjoy the video!

This past summer I had a signature session at High Cascade Snowboard Camp, with the Frends crew! We had such a great time! We were on the mountain every day, riding and having clinics with the campers on rails, jumps and pipe! The summer time in Mt. Hood, Oregon is amazing, it's warm and sunny, you ride during the day and then when we come down from the hill there are so many different activities the campers can participate in! Swimming at the lake, skating (in HCSC's own street course or the bowls.) Dodge ball and oh so much more! It was my first time doing a signature session but def not my first time to HCSC. I enjoyed those two weeks so much! While I was in Hood, I also shot a short commercial.
Hi everyone,

After a hectic but fun trip to New York last week for my sponsor Roxy, I’m now heading west for the 2008 ESPY Awards!!

For those unfamiliar with the ESPY’s, they are an annual sports awards event created and broadcast by ESPN. Regarded as Action Sports version of the Grammy’s, this year the awards will be hosted by Justin Timberlake (who I’m told is a massive sports fan!) Last year I was lucky enough to be nominated for an award and had an awesome time, so much so, I’m going back again!

I’ll be sure to update you on the awards and hopefully share some pics. (See below photo from last year). I’ll also report on my NY trip and my exciting work with Roxy so stay tuned!

Torah xx

Torah, Jamie, Sarah at the ESPYS

Summer Camp

Hi All,

A quick update on things....

Last week I flew from Salt Lake City to Portland before renting a car and driving to Mt Hood for the High Cascade Snowboard Camp Signature Sessions. For those unfamiliar with the camp, check out the website here- http://www.highcascade.com/

It’s a trek to get here but well worth it. The camp has a very cool setup with skate ramps and video games, and is home to the famous Cobra Dogs (hotdogs). But the best part is that the camp is only a short drive to the snow lifts at nearby Mt. Hood National Forest, one of the only places in USA where there is snow in summer! Each day we have been holding signature clinics, activities and giveaways with the young groms attending camp. The session 2 campers just arrived yesterday, they are a cool bunch.

Although I’ve been busy on the snow, I did find some time to do some skateboarding and even attended a camp dance party – you can check out the video I uploaded titled "Dance Dance Dance."

Last Friday I was riding and hiking one jump for hours. We are in the middle of shooting a commercial for my signature outerwear line with Roxy, The Roxy Bright Edition. And we are playing with my last name for the commercial. Jake the filmer is using different light filters, so there will be some crazy light and rainbow looking shots, i think it will be really fun!!!

After riding, i went straight to the all girls skate afternoon. There were so many girls out learning how to pump, drop in and ride bowls, it was awesome! We had some great times all the girls were picking it up quickly! I was really happy because i dropped in on the big bowl and got round one of the corners!

Fun days at summer camp!

Take care and speak soon x

Highcascade Snowboard Camp @ Mt Hood.

I did a little sk8ing

and met some amazing campers!!!!!

Roxy Chicken Jam

The roxy chicken jam is the final event of the season! It is always a fun event with all the girls riding together and having a great time!

This year it was all that again, but we ran into a few bumps this year. The weather was not co-operating, and because of the weather our practise time was an hour before the event. The Half pipe was too over vert and was painful to ride because of all the flat landings. But the contest was held and then we prayed for good weather for the slopestyle.

The good weather never came, so it was decided to take the chance and have the slopestyle on the Monday, wich was the departure day for the event and the day womens super park started. So unfortunately alot of the qualifier girls could not stay for that extra day.

The event was held and it was sunny! We had alot of fun riding the slopestyle, they were fun jumps! I was expecially happy because i learnt a new think on the jumps... switch back 540.

Although the event was not perfect, we all had a great time. And Roxy really looked after the ridders with a catered breakfast and lunch everyday! Coming out of the chicken jam, i finished the season as Vice TTR world champion to Jamie anderson who took out the title! Well done Jamie!!!

2008 Vice TTR World Champion & the TTR World Champion Jamie Anderson

On the way to mammoth we to a site seeing detour to Lunar Creator!

US Open

The US Open is the second last event of the season and the TTR tour, but the final event for the global open series. When thinking about the Open I usually conja up in my mind a vision of snow storms, ice storms, wind and just freezing weather, and that is exactly what we got! I think the US Open and all the opens for that matter are cursed with bad weather. Saying that we actually had blue bird for the pipe finals and for the junior jam.

Coming in to the Open i was ready to ride but was not thinking about the Whole Global open champion that would be crowned with a $100,000 cheque. I figured that because i had messed up in Japan with my slopestyle result i was out of the running for it. Little did i know that it was neck and neck coming into the Pipe with Jenny Jones and myself. I Had to win the half pipe to win the global open. If not Jenny would win. Jenny was riding really well all year long, and came into the open back from her friends wedding in England straight to compete in the Open, and on top of that... injured. Don't know how she did it!

I won the pipe and took out the Global Open series for the second time in a row. When i saw Jenny down the bottom at the presentation, we were both appreciative of the tough competition that had alot of people on edge!

Scott James is a 13 year old boy from Melbourne, Australia who has been traveling with Ben and i for the last winter. It has been so fun riding and seeing new places with him, love that boy! Usually we would have been on our way back to SLC after the open but Scotty was competing in the junior jam. I came up and cheered him and everyone else on. There were soo many good little ridders. But because of pure skill and determination Scott James won! We were all so proud of him! Not just because he won, but because of the amazing snowboarder he is, and still becoming. To win the junior jam at the open is not a small feat. Scotty is in great company with previous winner of the junior jam.
The female winner of the junior jam, Madeline Schaffrick is just 13 years old too. i give it a few years and she might be winning the US Open womens!!! Its crazy to think of where snowboarding will be with the young incredible ridders coming up!

2008 BGOS CHAMPIONS Torah Bright & Peetu Piiroinen

What made it really special this year was that my sister, her husband and their new baby boy were in town.
Rowena's husband went with his family south for a marathon race. So i got to have rowena and Sid stay with me, and cheer me on.

The Practice days were beautiful and sunny, then the contest day was a little bad, but not bad enough not to run it.
The girls were first and the contest went supper fast. We had a 3 run final.

I ended up having a victory lap... i love it when that happens.
Kelly Clarke came in second and Soko Yamaoko in third.
I was so happy to have Rowena and Sid there. I was so happy playing with them that i actually missed the prize giving... woops!

Luckily they staged it again for me.

All in all it was a great contest, there were a lot of friends that i have not seen for such a long time at this event, so it was great to catch up and ride with them!

A Melon to Fakie

My big sister

Sid after his big win.

As always check out all the latest photos from the World Superpipe event and all my friends in the gallery
